Sarah Nishioka grew up in Irvine California and is a senior at California State University Fullerton pursuing a B.A. in Political Science with an interest in diplomacy, international development, and humanitarian intervention and response.

Before working at the McCain Institute, Sarah has previously served as an intern and a youth advisor for Congresswoman Katie Porter of California’s 47th district. She also served as a national security strategy intern for the American Security Project (ASP), where she published articles on Ethiopia’s conflict with the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF), coup contagion in Africa, and the conflict in Yemen.
