I am a history major looking to pursue a career in teaching. I am interested in researching the prevalence of redlining and its effects on marginalized communities. Having never heard of redlining until about two years ago, I was shocked to learn about such an abrasive form of systemic racism. While I have always been aware that systemic racism is real, I could never explain to someone how it actually occurs; that is until I learned about redlining. I find the field of economics to be extremely fascinating and would love for a chance to continue learning about real-life circumstances of economic inequality.
