Headshot of Sunny Lee

I worked for a year as a Community Ambassador at Mental Health America of Los Angeles among a primarily Black and Latino community. Through my clients, I learned how challenging it was to pursue mental health recovery while facing food insecurity, unemployment, and a lack of affordable childcare. My frustration with systemic barriers led me to pursue graduate studies in social work. I would love to research the impact of stigma on mental health access for BIPOC communities. In particular, I am interested in how the interactions between generations of immigrant families impact service use. I am also very interested in studying interventions that reduce stigma. Currently, I am a Master of Social Work student at CSUF. I am also an intern at the Orange County Health Care Agency. My goal is to improve access to mental health services for bicultural individuals and communities of color.
