I am a first generation college graduate from the Chicana/o Studies department currently in the Masters in History program with a concentration in Chicana/o Studies. As a product of Santa Ana College and the community college system I aim to one day return as faculty in Ethnic Studies. My research interests, of which most are inspired by my family’s experiences, are men’s mental health, the prison industrial complex, mentoring men of color, and the documentation of community histories through the lens of lowrider culture. Community is central to the scholarship I pursue and the tools digital scholarship can provide in making my work public facing with community involvement as a central piece of my methodological approach is something I wish to explore further. Ultimately, I simply wish to impact students in the ways that my mentors have done. Mentorship changed my life.
